14 members-volunteers of Hellenic Rescue Team had the chance to attend another immense training experience in sea rescue practices in Norway, with HRT’s sister organization, Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (Redningsselskapet, RS).
This is the second training course HRT’s members attend – first time took place on November 2015 – covering subjects regarding research and sea rescue, operation of rescue boat and first aid. The mission was comprised of HRT’s members from Messenia, Achaia, Kos, Corfu, Samos and Lesvos while the group of members escorted to Oslo the Greek organization’s vice president, Mr. Nikos Priporas. The training is included in the Norwegian’s Department of Foreign Affairs sponsorship program for Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue organization and Hellenic Rescue Team, aiming the support of the latter with rescue boats, safety equipment and training programs.
As part of the same project, Hellenic Rescue Team has already commenced the construction of a rescue boat, which will operate at Lesvos from early June. HRT has also procured significant amount of rescue and first aid equipment.
Norwegian’s RS and HRT’s close and continuous partnership has given the chance to Hellenic Rescue Team to enhance in great extent its operational competence at sea, enabling HRT to respond promptly even in the most challenging operations in Aegean sea.
