RESCUER: The EU project aiming at empowering the new generation of First RespondersSense augmentation, precise and infrastructure-less self-positioning, cognitive support and multi-sense AR interfaces, robust ad-hoc intra-team communications for both verbal and data exchanges, extraction of environmental information in situ and infrastructure-wise are, amongst others, the objectives of the EU project “RESCUER”, in which HRT participates. RESCUER aims to design and develop a First-Responder-centered technology toolkit that will empower the next generation of First Responders (FR) by enhancing their operational capacity and safety, specifically in adverse conditions, both environmental and infrastructure-wise. The technologies that will be delivered in the project’s frame include a main sensor hub that detects signs of life, objects and dangerous gas, biometric sensors, a smart helmet, building sensors of light, motion, humidity and temperature and infrastructure-based communication systems. 21 partners participate in this project, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme. The project’s coordinator is the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Further information: www.rescuerproject.eu
