The HRT rescue vessel participated in the safe transfer to Lesvos of three dinghies, which carried 50-60 people each. Altogether, under the instructions of “Agios Efstratios” vessel captain, 21 people were transferred, 17 of whom were children.
Given that the dinghy was found at a challenging area due to engine failure, the rest of the people were transferred in a safe area by a Frontex vessel.
During the operation, a woman who suffered from hypoglycemic shock was transferred with her husband and two children by a Frontex vessel.
All missions ended at approximately 18:00 in the afternoon, but the HRT branch remained on guard 24/7, due to increased refugee flows.
Lesvos HRT would like to warmly thank Offshore Patrol Vessel’s LS 080 “Agios Efstratios” (OPV 080) crew and captain for their trust as well as Mytilenes Coast Guard.
