HRT participated in the IMRF Crew Exchange Programme

HRT volunteer Giorgos Glykofridis participated in this year’s IMRF Crew Exchange Programme, which is organized annually by the International Maritime Rescue Federation.
Giorgos Glykofridis, who is head of HRT Kerkyra (Corfu), joined the training programme that was hosted in Bremen by the German sea rescue organization DGzRS, which has offered the rescue boats “ZETA” and “CHIARA” to HRT Kos. HRT volunteers in Kos and Lesvos have also been trained by DGzRS professionals during the implementation of the IMRF project “Members assisting Members”.
People from other sea rescue organizations, from Canada, Sweden, Norway, France, Estonia, the UK and Ireland, also joined the IMRF Exchange programme in DGzRS, in order to share experiences , ideas and practices and improve their training and operational level.
The crew exchange programme included search and rescue scenarios, training sessions for First Aid, navigation, firefighting, boat handling and English nautical terminology. People who joined the programme visited the organization’s rescue stations and the training center, where the trainees were briefed about the way DGzRS is operating.
