HRT Magnisia undertakes mission to Leros and Farmakonisi to provide assistance to refugees

The assistance provided by HRT Magnisia during the mission to Leros and Pharmakonisi, where the volunteer's group went to offer support to search and rescue operations for refugees, was of extreme importance.

The mission lasted for one week and seven volunteers, members of HRT Magnisia, participated.

The HRT mission, which arrived in Leros on November 16th, participated in search and rescue operations in the region. The rescueres transfered 17 crates of humanitarian aid (clothes and medicines) from Magnisia and Athens, that was distributed to refugees on the island. Moreover, the team carried out First Aid and Earthquake Protection presentations to schools, local associations, employees of the Municipality of Leros, teachers' associations and staff of the General Hospital of Leros.

In cooperation with the Emergency First Aid Services of Leros the team participated in co-training in First Aid and in the treatment of trauma patients. Finally, the team also participated in the cleaning of the sea bed of Farmakonisi and the surroundings of the Hospital of Leros in cooperation with the Municipality.
