The British rescue organization Royal National Lifeboat Institution in support of the work of the Hellenic Rescue Team, donated rescue equipment to the HRT which will be used by the volunteers of the organization who take part in search and rescue at Aegean sea.
Specifically, RNLI donated to HRT 40 full sea rescue kit consisting of dry suits, life jackets, helmets and ampoules of carbon dioxide, some of which were already sent by the Central Administration of the HRT to its departments in Lesvos, Samos and Kos, which they are at the forefront of the organization of operational power and involved in refugee search and rescue operations. Moreover, equipment was sent to other island departments of Hellenic Rescue Team having activity at sea rescue and participate in the program "Aegeas".
This initiative of RNLI, which is one of the oldest and largest rescue organizations in Europe and a founding member of IMRF (International Maritime Rescue Federation), is just the beginning of a long-term programme of support to the Hellenic Rescue Team from the World Federation of Maritime Rescue that will continue in the new year with donation of rescue boats, equipment and training programmes will attend HRT members.
