HRT Samos rescued 63 refugees, including 19 babies and children, who were abandoned by smuglers in an uninhabited island, near Fournoi Korseon.
HRT Samos volunteers and the SSRS (Swedish Sea Rescue Society) crew of the "Yellow Boats" responded immediately to the emergency call from the island's authorities and managed to spot and rescue the refugees.
The 63 refugees were brought safely to the port of Karlovasi by the Greek and Swedish rescuers.
The refugees were trapped in this uninhabited island for three days, without water and food and without telephone connection. One of them decided to climb a mountain's summit to get a phone signal and he was the one who called the european emergency number 112.
