Every October, Thessaloniki hosts the Self-Protection & Emergency Response School, a unique opportunity for all citizens to learn how to protect themselves and those around them. During the month-long school, courses are offered that focus on prevention and effective response to emergencies, providing basic knowledge to each participant.
During the School, classes are held every Monday and Wednesday in the afternoon. In addition, the program includes selected activities that take place on weekends, offering participants the opportunity for hands-on experience. Those interested will receive all the necessary information regarding class times and location in early September.
If you decide to go ahead and become a volunteer with the Hellenic Rescue Team, you can participate in the Basic Training School (Rescue School), which starts immediately afterwards and lasts for about a month and a half. The training combines theoretical and practical courses, offering a comprehensive and integrated education in rescue in all areas: mountain, sea, and urban areas, mainly in cases of natural disasters.
Upon completion of the training, participants receive a Certificate of Attendance.
The Self-Protection & Emergency Response School is only available in Thessaloniki, while at our branches it is integrated with the Rescue School (Basic Training School).
The program is open to all citizens who wish to learn how to stay safe and protect others.
No special skills are required.
