Every October, Thessaloniki hosts the Self-Protection & Emergency Response School, a unique opportunity for all citizens to learn how to protect themselves and those around them. During the month-long school, courses are offered that focus on prevention and effective response to emergencies, providing basic knowledge to each participant.
During the School, classes are held every Monday and Wednesday in the afternoon. In addition, the program includes selected activities that take place on weekends, offering participants the opportunity for hands-on experience. Those interested will receive all the necessary information regarding class times and location in early September.
If you decide to go ahead and become a volunteer with the Hellenic Rescue Team, you can participate in the Basic Training School (Rescue School), which starts immediately afterwards and lasts for about a month and a half. The training combines theoretical and practical courses, offering comprehensive and integrated training in rescue in all areas: mountain, sea, and urban areas, mainly in cases of natural disasters.
Upon completion of the training, participants receive a Confirmation of Attendance.
