Για το διασωστικό της έργο στη θάλασσα κατά τη διάρκεια της μεγάλης προσφυγικής κρίσης, η Ελληνική Ομάδα Διάσωσης τιμήθηκε από την Ύπατη Αρμοστεία του ΟΗΕ για τους πρόσφυγες (UNHCR) με το βραβείο προσφύγων NANSEN 2016, που αποτελεί την ύψιστη διάκριση της Ύπατης Αρμοστείας.
Μόνο το 2014 και το 2015, η ΕΟΔ πραγματοποίησε πάνω από 1.100 επιχειρήσεις διάσωσης, σώζοντας 2.500 ανθρώπους και βοηθώντας 7.000 πρόσφυγες να φτάσουν με ασφάλεια στις ακτές των νησιών του Αιγαίου.
In December 2017, we received the Mother Teresa Award from the Harmony Institution of India, recognizing our volunteers’ heroic actions and extraordinary efforts to save lives at sea.

HRT has been certified by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection since 2001. We are the only Greek organization that is a member of: ICAR (International Commission for Alpine Rescue), IMRF (International Maritime Rescue Federation), IRO (International Search and Rescue Dog Organization)
In major international crises Hellenic Rescue Team collaborates with: INSARAG of the UN (International Search and Rescue Advisory Group), OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations)
