Retrieving missing refugee bodies in Molyvos

Two divers, members of HRT-Lesvos operated in cooperation with the Coast Guard and have recovered the bodies of three refugees and in particular a 4-year old girl, an infant and a woman that lost their lives when the boat that were on board, sank off the Eftalou area near Molyvos. Specifically, on Wednesday, October the 14th, the Mytilene Central Port Authority requested the assistance of HRT-Lesvos for the research operation of the missing refugees; three members of the HRT-Lesvos, two divers and a support member promptly responded and went directly to the area. At the time, a Coast Guard boat and a Frontex helicopter was already inoperation in the region it, in order to locate the three missing persons. The mission of the HRT team in cooperation with the above bodies, spotted the half sunken boat, while late in the afternoon the missing persons were identified and retrieved by the divers of HRT-Lesvos. The three bodies of the unfortunate refugees were tranfered ashore by means of a caique and a floating boat of the port authority. On Thursday, October 15th there was a new wreck in the area of ??Molivos. Immediately the Operations Department of HRT-Lesvos was alerted from the Central Port Authority of Mytilene and two rescuers with full diving equipment went directly to the area to assist in the research operation of the eight missing migrants. Also participated, a support member, while five other members were on call in case the extension of investigations would have been required. The Coast Guard rescued 31 refugees, while for the tracking of the refugees who were trapped in the cabin of the boat, the assistance of the HRT Lesvos was required, that they identified and recovered the bodies of three refugees. The wreck killed a total of seven people, while there is still one missing person.
