Deployment of the HRT of Samos at a wreck with refugees

The Samos station of the Hellenic Rescue Team participated on Sunday, November 1st in a search and recover operation of a wreck with eleven dead refugees.
The group of rescuers of the HRT unit of Samos ESA was called in the early morning to help the Civil Protection Agency of Samos and the island's Port Authority and immediately went with the rescue vessel «RESCUE 5» to the Blue Cape area. On location, in cooperation with the vessels of the Port Authority of Samos, the vessel «Gorgo» of the Divers Association and with the diving team, managed in a short time to retrieve and transfer the 11 corpses of the unfortunate refugees on board the vessel of the Port Authority of Samos, which was coordinating the efforts.
During the operation, which took place under difficult conditions with blowing winds of 6 beaufort, the HRT of Samos, the vessels of the Coast Guard and the diving team, managed to rescue 15 people.
